Dog License Fees
Dog licenses must be purchased annually for dogs 5 months and older. Please write a separate check made payable to the Town of Cold Spring for dog licenses (do not include with property tax payment).
Spayed and Neutered: $10.00 Unaltered: $15.00
If your dog had a rabies vaccination since your last license was issued, please include a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate from your vet. A $5 late fee applies to all licenses purchased after March 31st.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Town Board Meetings – Meetings are generally held the second Thursday of each month at 7PM at the Town Hall. Agenda and notices are posted at the Town Hall, Travelers Park and The Cold Spring Inn as well as published in the Legal Section of the Whitewater Register.
Fire & Ambulance – Whitewater Fire Dept, Inc provides Fire and Ambulance services. There is a fire call charge of at least $900 per call, even for a false alarm or an unreported controlled burn, plus $250/HR for time exceeding 1 hour. Ambulance call charges are billed based on equipment used and mileage. Payments for these services are due upon receipt.
To Report a Controlled Fire/Burn – If you’re planning a controlled burn or pit fire, call both the Whitewater Fire Dept @ 262-473-0555 and the Jefferson County Sheriff Dept @ 920-674-7310.
Road Maintenance – The Town of Cold Spring provides snowplowing, sanding, mowing and maintenance for all town roads. Please respect the road right-of-way by not using it for dumping of refuse, leaves, branches, or trash. When plowing your driveway, do not push the snow across the road into the Town right-of-way.
Weed Notice – State Law prohibits growth of noxious weeds on any lands. Property owners are expected to destroy all noxious weed before the plants bloom. Failure to do so could result in a written notice to destroy and if not complied with, such weeds are destroyed and the expense is charged to the said owner.
Elections – All elections are held at the Town Hall from 7 am – 8 pm. Voter registration is required and can be done on the day of the election at the polls. Contact the Clerk at 262-473-6228 to register to vote or for an absentee ballot.
Refuse/Recyclable Collection – Collections schedules are included with your tax bill. Bulk pick will change to a once a month, if needed by residents. See letter from John’s Included with your tax bill. Trash/Recycling Fees are a special assessment on your tax bill.
Road Right-of-Way Ordinance, #97-1
Definition: Road-right-of way is 66’, 33’feet each way from the center of the road. The Town Board of the Town of Cold Spring, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, hereby adopts the standard set by Wisconsin State Statutes 86.021(1) pertaining to highways, cultivation of; injury by farm machinery.
The Town Board of the Town of Cold Spring, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, hereby adopts the standard set by Wisconsin State Statutes 86.03(3) planting trees and shrubs in highway right-of way.
Now therefore be it hereby ordained that the Town Board of the Town of Cold Spring prohibits any object including crops, trees, shrubs, ornamental signs or any other decorative items that might be planted or erected in the road right-of-way.
Now therefore be it also ordained by the Town Board of the Town of Cold Spring that anyone putting an object in the road right-of–way is liable for any damage caused to a vehicle striking said object.
Now therefore be it also ordained by the Town Board of the Town of Cold Spring that any object including crops, trees, shrubs, ornamental signs or any other decorative items that are ordered removed, and not removed within 30 days after proper notification, will result in the issuance of a citation. The resident will be subject to a forfeiture of $50.00, the cost of removal and legal fees.
Fire Ordinance #91-1
Whereas, section 60.55 of the Wisconsin Statutes states, “The Town Board shall provide for fire protection for the town”…To comply with this law, the Town Board of Supervisors of the Town of Cold Spring shall negotiate and enter into a fire protection contract for the Town of Cold Spring with the most appropriate fire protection organization available to serve the Town.
- Any person or persons setting a trash or grass fire is responsible for controlling said fire. Any expenses paid by the town relevant to an out-of-control fire shall be the responsibility of the person or persons setting the fire. The cost of that service shall be charged to that property owner or owners as provided in Section 60.55(2)(b).
- Any person or persons wishing to burn trash or yard debris, except for small amounts in a trash barrel, must, prior to setting the fire, call the appropriate fire department to alert the department to the fire. That person must give the fire department his or her name, address, telephone number and location of the fire. Said person or persons shall start fires only as permitted under local, county, state or federal regulations and rules in effect at the time of the burning.
- HOME FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS – False fire alarm calls. Any expenses paid by the town relevant to a false fire alarm call shall be the responsibility of the property owner.
- COST OF FIRE SERVICE CHARGED TO PROPERTY OWNERS NOT PAID AFTER SECOND BILLING SENT BY CERTIFIED MAIL SHALL BE ADDED TO THE PROPERTY OWNER’S TAX BILL AS A SPECIAL CHARGE, EFFECTIVE THE 1ST DAY OF OCTOBER, 1991 AND UPON PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE.
